The teaching, curriculum and over-all design of the course was comphrehensive in nature and extremely well organized. The teachers were well-read in the field of TESOL/ESL and classes were structured to meet the needs of their students. I recommend SEA English Academy to whomever may be interested in not only furthering their grammatical knowledge, but also increasing their ability to speak English. From

SEA English Academy is an amazing school if you want to learn how to teach English with tools that work and people who love what they do. I'd recommend it to anyone. From

I thought the quality of this TESOL program was incredibly low. SEA Academy Maroochydore provides the McDonalds experience...nasty, pre-packaged programs and teachers with plastic grins. I don't know about the other schools. They may be better.

I was so disappointed with this school. I do not believe the positive comments on this page are real.

\nThe Sea Academy is just a small franchise. It is not a real English school like you will expect to come to Australia. From
Walter on 05-24-2009
I am surprised by these statements of support. But then I look at names and dates and I can see the school is made one group of Japanese students all say the same thing. Amazing that the teachers also wrote a comment! For me the truth is different. The teachers are nice but the school is very small and not satisfactory to me or my classmates. Because it has only two classes I could not get my right level. Also the school is run by a church organization and the atmospheric is not normal for a school. I now study in another school that it is much better for me. But my life on sunshine coast is very good and a lifestyle is best for me.From

I did the TESOL cert here but other schools I applied for said that they did not accept it, so no jobs. From
Joanne on 09-12-2009
Well, what interesting reading. It seems that there are some very disgruntled international students out there. I think that many of the positive comments are from franchisees, too. Not the classiest move. I did the TESOL course at Sea Academy in Maroochydore. It was an interesting enough course, but very unprofessionally taught. The big issue for me is that no English school on the Sunshine Coast recognises Sea Academy's qualificiation. I had two interviews, one at the University of the Sunshine Coast and the other at Global Village English in Noosa. Both interviews were polite and very friendly, but the bottom line was that the Sea Academy qualification is not sufficient to teach in Australia (the issue is with prac teaching). I really feel that we should have been told about this before we paid the money for the course. Anyway, live and learn I guess. Overall, Sea Academy is small and not particularly professional. It seems to rely on the shameless self promotion of the owner (who would go to the opening of an envelope if she'd get her photo in the paper). I heard that the Maroochydore school is now for sale, anyway, so maybe it'll get better. How can these people sell franchises, though, if the main office is so unsuccessful that it needs to be sold? After this frustrating experience, I am back working in Real estate, which is exactly what I wanted to get out of by doing the course. I guess I feel pretty cheated by Sea Academy. From

Dear Joanne and Walter. As one of the Directors of Sea English Academy I am compelled to reply to your comments. I am only too happy to meet and discuss any concerns or disappointments you have experienced while studying at one of our campuses. (Although we have never had any student called Walter so perhaps you are using an anonymous name). Please contact me directly if you wish to discuss the problems you seem to have and we will certainly work together to resolve any issues you have. Yes, I am a Christian and have never hidden this fact. Actually, our staff and students represent every faith. Many of our staff & students are Muslim, Hindu and Buddhist, as well as Christian. We value the diversity of each of our campuses. We try our utmost to meet all the needs of our students, however, we admit we are not perfect. Joanne, I am sorry to hear you couldn't find a job upon completion of your TESOL (although again we don't seem to have any record of you actually studying with us). SEA TESOL graduates, both current & in the past, have been teaching at GV, Quest College, TAFE and the Sunshine Coast University. We now have over 1000 TESOL graduates teaching throughout Australia and overseas. We have been in the media from time to time and this is usually due to our strong support of various community projects and networks, and the many charities we support. We will continue to remain active supporters and sponsors of these and many other community events. We are committed to providing the best education available and with your constructive feedback we will continue to build a strong company and school. We are always striving to improve our service and I value the comments made by all our genuine students and clients. Kim Edwards, International Director. From

I did my Cert IV in TESOL with Sea English Academy last year and while I certainly found it was hard going, it was nonetheless very rewarding. This opened up plenty of work options on the Gold Coast where I live. I found many colleges actually preferred my SEA qualification to some of the other colleges who offered the same course. For John who commented about the course being a McDonalds out of the box type of courser, well if it is a registered course with the Australian Government, then thats what it suppose to be. My experiences were opposite to some of the negative comments made on this site. In fact in looking at these negative comments I suspect they are not actually from former SEA students, but are someone just trying to be malicious. From
Joel on 11-17-2009
If you expect a big school with many students, you will be dissapointed but if you like to be in a small class, where the teacher is interested in you and wants you to improve your language skills, Sea English is for sure one of the best choices you can make.

It was really a great time here. Thank you very much. As I arrived here at the school, I was surprised that the building is not so huge and there're not so many students. But after a view days
\nI recognised, that this is a strength of this place. Is is much more persoal like that and you know every student, teacher or staff person soon after your arrival. That's great. All the people are very friendly and I felt at home immediately. I learned a lot here and I really recommend this school. Thank you once more, I'll miss all of you very much. From

I can't believe this. I have signed up for a TESOL course at SEA English Academy Maroochydore, and I have just found out that the school is for sale! Why did they accept my application if they were just going to close the school??? I am going to get a refund but now I need to find a new course.
