Waterloo School of English was established to provide a truly first class educational experience for anyone from any country. We believe the key to learning a foreign language is being happy in the environment where you study and having confidence in your teachers. By having friendly classes (of no more than 16 students) and carefully recruiting excellent teachers, we feel we have achieved this. Waterloo School of English is accredited by the British Council. We are also a member of the Association of British Language Schools (ABLS) and accredited by the Accreditation Body for Language Services. Our Teaching Methods We use the Communicative Approach at Waterloo School of English, which means encouraging fluency through the use of pair and group work, role playing and simulations of real life situations. We focus on the four key language skills, speaking, listening, reading, and writing. As well as using the latest course books in class, you will be given authentic materials to expand your knowledge and skills. Grammatical work and vocabulary building are also core elements at all levels of our language teaching. Your Welfare We do everything we can to make your experience at Waterloo School a positive one. When you arrive you’ll receive a welcome pack with information about studying at our School and about life in London. Our School is well maintained with pleasant classrooms. Internet access is free and available to all students, so that you can keep in touch with friends and relatives wherever they are. Waterloo School has a Student Room and a large Sun Terrace where you can socialise with other students from all over the world. However, we also run an extensive social programme that includes regular trips, parties and other events. We suggest you get involved to make the most of your London and Waterloo School experience. If you have any academic problems, you can see the Director of Studies, who will be happy to talk with you. Any other problems you have can be discussed with the Welfare Officer. Waterloo School of English is a member of UKCOSA (The Council for International Education), which protects the interests of students from other countries studying in the UK. UKCOSA provides advice and assistance on any issue affecting you as an overseas student. You can see their website for more details (www.ukcosa.org.uk/index.htm).
